Cristo Rey defies gravity, exceeds goals at high-flying gala

On January 29, 2011, hundreds gathered in an airplane hangar at Hobby Airport to show their support for Cristo Rey Jesuit at the college preparatory school's inaugural fundraising event, Defying Gravity - The Gala. Proceeds from the event, which included a live auction, concert by Skyrocket and flash mob with dancers from Hope Stone Dance and Kids' Play Ensemble helped the school raise more than $1.8 million.

Data Projections was thrilled to be part of the successful event. Data Projections has been involved with the school since it opened its doors in August of 2009. For the gala, we donated all the audio/visual equipment and provided technical support.

According to Reverend TJ Martinez, SJ, President and CEO, Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School of Houston, "the event broke records in Houston fund-raising largely due to the help and guidance that Data Projections provided."

A multi-year commitment
To date, Data Projections has donated permanent and portable SMART Boards, a SMART document camera, a SMART Response system, portable projectors and a Sympodium to the school. We also provide the sound system and engineering for major receptions, Masses, parties, performances and luncheons at the school.

Our commitment continues through the 2012-2013 school year, with a goal of providing SMART Boards and related technology for all 22 classrooms as well as a sound system and ongoing support for the school's many events. Cristo Rey has recognized Data Projections as its official Technology Sponsor.

Reverend Martinez continued, "The quantity and quality of technology [Data Projections] has donated allows us to offer instructional, marketing and administrative initiatives that now rival the best educational institutions in the city of Houston."
