Texas City ISD

The Situation

Texas City ISD has been ahead of the curve in technology for some time, which is why it was one of the first districts in the Houston area to adopt interactive whiteboards for most of its classrooms. However, TCISD was interested in upgrading their interactive board technology further.

In 2016, TCISD absorbed La Marque ISD, a change that brought an additional 2,300 students into the district and several schools that lagged behind TCISD schools in technology. The district change and the development of new interactive display technologies warranted another look at the district™s technology focus.

Specifically, TCISD wanted a solution that would remove the need to connect additional devices to the board, as this represents a logistical headache for many teachers. Ease of use and cost effectiveness were two of the district™s major priorities given to Data Projections.

The Solution

Data Projections installed 65-inch Clevertouch Plus Series interactive display technology in 214 classrooms throughout TCISD and former La Marque ISD schools. There were no obstacles to installation, as the Clevertouch allows for several mounting and cart options, including easy retrofit options. Data Projections took advantage of wall and cart mounted installation methods, determining which was the best on a classroom by classroom basis.

Educational content comes built in with the Clevertouch Plus Series, including access to Lynx (a lesson planning, media sharing and annotating software), Snowflake (a lesson delivery and multi-user format software) and Cleverstore (free educational applications that enhance lesson presentations).

The Results

Feedback from students and teachers has been overwhelmingly positive, and the Clevertouch™s ease of use and intuitive user interface has been especially well received. Reports from teachers are also glowing, asserting that students are better engaged and that the technology is far easier to operate than interactive whiteboards.

The district is also pleased with the cost of the Clevertouch and that it does not require an additional device to operate the technology.

The project has been so successful that TCISD is already considering installing the Clevertouch interactive display in additional classrooms.
